Are you a veteran who thought that you have to be retired from the military in order to have commissary and exchange privileges?
Veterans that have a service connected disability rating and received a honorable discharge, former prisoner of war and if you received a Purple Heart or the Medal of Honor, do have commissary and exchange privileges. Your local VA hospital can create a U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs ID card for you that specifies on your ID card that you have a service connected disability, POW, Purple Heart or Medal of Honor.
Your ID card will give you access to Commissaries and Exchanges in the U.S. and Overseas.
